As of March 15th, 2022 the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) released a public communication announcing that state broadband providers no longer are required to report their subscription data as it relates to census block.
This is significant because in 2021, a change in access to a public API lookup resource made it so Sonar no longer had reasonable means of providing CPUC-formatted Subscription Data reports to our clients.
More information on CPUC's broadband data submission guidelines and templates can be found on their website here.
To accommodate for this recent change, Sonar has made a custom report available for all clients who need to report for CPUC - this report has already been loaded into those Sonar instances and will assist with providing the necessary data. This report can be accessed within your Sonar instance by navigating to Reports (from the left-hand panel), and then clicking on the "CA Broadband Data" report tile.
An overview of the data required for CPUC, along with what data is included in Sonar's report, is provided via the table below.
Field Name (CSV Column Header) | Description | Type | Example | Sonar Field for Reference | Included in the Custom Report? |
DBA Name (DBA_Name) | Doing Business As (DBA) Name of your company. In other words, the name of the entity customers could contact to purchase service. | Text | AAA Company |
